Chilean bass-baritone Sergio Gallardo made his debut at the Teatro Municipal de Santiago as Colline La bohème, returning as Capulet Roméo et Juliette, First Mate Billy Budd, Dr Dulcamara L’elisir d’amore, Ping Turandot, Dr Bartolo Il barbiere di Siviglia, Taddeo L’italiana in Algeri, Don Geronio Il Turco in Italia, Fifth Jew Salome, Loredano I due Foscariand Montano Otello.
Sergio Gallardo made his European operatic debut as Dr Bartolo Il barbiere di Siviglia at the Théâtre du Capitole, Toulouse, a role he repeated for his French debut at the Atelier Lyrique de Tourcoing and at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, where he has also sung Mustafà L’Italiana in Algeri.
Other engagements have included Dr Dulcamara L’elisir d’amore at the Teatro de la Universidad de Concepción, Commendatore Don Giovanni and Dr Bartolo Il barbiere di Siviglia at the Teatro Municipal de Rancagua, Colline La bohème at the Teatro de Carabineros, Sharpless Madama Butterfly at the Teatro Municipal de Temuco and Dr Bartolo Il barbiere di Siviglia at the Teatro Municipal de Rancagua.
Concert engagements have included Beethoven Symphony No. 9, Handel Messiah, Mozart Requiem with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Chile, the Orquesta Sinfónica Universidad de La Serena and the Symphony Orchestra of Temuco.
Conductors with whom he has worked include Ives Abel, Antonello Allemandi, Maurizio Arena, David Ayma, Niksa Bareza, Roberto Rizzi Brignoli, Gianluigi Gelmetti, Jean Claude Malgoire and Andriy Yurkevich.
His current engagements include Brander La Damnation de Faust, Dr Bartolo Le nozze di Figaro, Colline La bohème, Don Magnifico La cenerentola and The Chief of Police Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk at the Teatro Municipal de Santiago, Zuniga Carmen at the Teatro Municipal de Temuco, Caronte L’Orfeo the Teatro Municipal de Rancaguaand Tobia Mill La Cambiale di Matrimonio at the Atelier Lyrique de Tourcoing and at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Paris.
